Bustos Media Raises $306,000 for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals
Bustos Media LLC hosted its second Hispanic Radiothon and raised more than $306,000 for Children’s Miracle Network hospitals over a three-day Radiothon, July 9 – 11.
The 2009 total is up from $264,000 raised in 2008 and will benefit 48 Children’s Miracle Network hospitals. The three main participating stations — La Gran D Network, Ke Buena Network and KLMG 97.9 FM — broadcast to 26 markets from Sacramento, California. The three Bustos Media Television stations in Sacramento, Salt Lake City and Milwaukee also supported the effort.
“The Bustos Media Radiothon is activating a powerful demographic to give to a charity that personally impacts so many in our community,” said, Jacquelyn Kay-Mills, Development Officer, Community and Corporate Giving UC Davis Children’s Hospital. “The potential of this Radiothon seems unlimited, and we are looking forward to watching the positive effects the funds will have on the children being treated at our hospital.”
“We sent a powerful message to our listeners that Children’s Miracle Network hospitals helps kids of all ethnicities and economic status,” said Juan Gonzalez, Bustos Media’s VP of Programming. “We know how to reach and touch our community. We knew our listeners would respond generously if they heard our messages, despite the tough economic climate, and they came through with flying colors.”
Money raised for the hospitals will go to help sick children by funding medical care, research and education that saves and improves lives.
“Since 1997 Children's Miracle Network Radiothons have raised more than $280 million in support of 170 children’s hospitals in Canada and the US, but only in the past two years have Hispanic Radiothons been a part of that effort,” said Steve Oshin, Senior Vice President Radiothon. “Our success is dependant upon our great radio partners. We are fortunate to be partnered with Bustos Media and thank them for their commitment to great programming and their community.”
