14-year-old Creates Minecraft Server to Connect Extra Life Participants

A brother of a Canadian Champion ambassador recently created a Minecraft server to connect Extra Life participants all over the world. Robert, 14 and his brother Steven, the Champion ambassador for Newfoundland and Labrador, recently attended Children’s Hospitals Week, where they were able to attend Extra Life United. After connecting with the Extra Life community, Robert wanted to find more ways to interact with the Extra Life community.  As he watched the ExtraLife4Kids channel on Twitch one day he asked the streamer if there was a server for Extra Lifers to play on. When he found out there wasn’t, he created one.

Anyone interested in playing Minecraft can record, livestream and play on the server.

“When my brother was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, I was devastated. Cancer spreads to everyone in the family, not just the person who has it. I also have severe anxiety so I get stressed easily and have panic attacks if I get to scared or overwhelmed,” says Robert.  “I want people to be kind and open-hearted, and most of them are! That’s how I got involved with Extra Life.”

Robert plays games to heal kids for Janeway Children’s Hospital Foundation. For more information on Extra Life and how you can get involved in the incredible community, visit extra-life.org.
