Five Stories of Resilience from Children’s Hospital Nurses During the COVID-19 Pandemic
May 6 begins the celebration of National Nurses Week, which runs until May 12. The resiliency of nurses in children’s hospitals continues to grow and certainly hasn’t depleted in the battle of the COVID-19 Pandemic. As Nurses Week begins with National Nurses Appreciation Day, we’d like to spotlight nurses at our children’s hospitals.
At Arkansas Children’s a brave group of nurses flew to New York, the epicenter of the pandemic, to help fight Covid-19 at New York Presbyterian Hospital. We are grateful for their heroic sacrifices to keep each of us safe and healthy.

Nurses from Children’s Hospital New Orleans wanted to make sure Destiny still celebrated her sweet sixteenth birthday. They put a smile on her face with music, balloons, and a big birthday sign. These nurses truly made Destiny feel special.
Danielle had to take her daughter Ava to Children’s Wisconsin. She described her gratitude for the nurses and all of those on the frontlines. Danielle said, “I want people on the front line to be proud of what they’re doing. An exceptional facility is one that gets all the little details right. Remember — those in the front line know when things are not right or things need to be improved. We are so lucky to have these amazing people right here at our home hospital.”
