Extra Life Announces Bits for Kids at E3

Extra Life has rolled out an initiative at E3 to announce a new program with Twitch Partners and affiliates. Bits for Kids helps raise funds for local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

Bits and Cheers is a program Twitch rolled out in 2016. Sharing amazing moments on stream, fans of Twitch streamers can cheer using emotes in chat. Extra Life has partnered with Twitch to bring that cheering function to also help save and improve the lives of kids at Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

Leading into Extra Life’s official game day, November 4, 2017, partners and affiliates are encouraged to sign up to pledge proceeds from Bits and Cheers to their local CMN Hospital during the month of November. Funds impact pediatric care, research, charitable care and more for kids in their community.

“This program not only allows fans and partners to celebrate amazing moments happening on stream, it also allows them to celebrate the amazing miracles that happen at our children’s hospitals,” said John Lauck, president and CEO of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. “We are thrilled to work with Twitch and their community to support the Bits for Kids initiative.”

Extra Life is a Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals fundraising program within the gaming community. Participants fundraise year-round and pledge to game for 24 hours with one goal: to save and improve the lives of sick and injured kids. Funds raised stay local to help pediatric patients at one of 170 Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals across North America.

Extra Life partners with some of the largest names in the gaming industry, including Twitch, Rooster Teeth, reddit, Wizards of the Coast, Humble Bundle, ESA Foundation, XSplit and Trion Worlds.

While anyone can participate, many expert gamers and broadcasters live-stream their play and earn donations from followers. Since 2008, Extra Life has raised more than $30 million for member hospitals. More than $1 million is raised annually through Twitch, CMN Hospitals’ premier partner. The movement, formed by gamers bonded by passion, is committed to saving and improving the lives of local kids.
