Garth Brooks Surprises Listeners with Children’s Hospitals Support

Long-time children’s hospital supporter K99.1 FM in Dayton, Ohio hosted its Cares for Kids Radiothon recently to help support kids treated at Dayton Children’s Hospital.  Listeners were delighted and surprised by a couple gifts from country superstar Garth Brooks during an on-air interview.

Nancy Wilson and Frye Guy, who host the K99.1 FM Radiothon were giving out a Garth experience package to a lucky listener who donated to the children’s hospital during the hour.  As part of that hour, they had arranged to interview Brooks about his upcoming tour.

During the interview, Garth gifted the lucky listener with backstage access to his Cincinnati concert, and also surprised the Radiothon by tripling a matching hour sponsored by McAfee Heating and Air, increasing donations another $25,000. He also shared the importance of children’s hospitals from a father’s perspective. Listen to the radio interview here.

Garth Brooks has been a friend of children’s hospitals over the years, bringing Child Life Zones to multiple member CMN Hospitals across North America, as exampled in this story from Country Living. Radio stations across the U.S. And Canada provide crucial support to local children’s hospitals each year raising more than $50 million that hospitals use however it’s needed the most. Typically funds raised help cover charitable care, research or equipment needed by patients in that community.
