Let’s get REAL this Giving Tuesday

On Giving Tuesday (Nov. 28), Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals is activating a social campaign that encourages authenticity — the sharing of real moments in our lives (a rarity on social media), particularly those moments that highlight care in children’s hospitals. Our objective: cut through the social chatter of that day and encourage donations by engaging our communities to also share their authentic moments in honor of kids treated at children’s hospitals, using the hashtag #gooddaybadday. These kids have good days and bad days, and it’s donations that help ensure they have more of the good.

Much of this activation will be via Facebook, which just announced that donations made on that day (beginning at 8 a.m. ET) via Facebook will be matched up to $50,000 per nonprofit or $1,000 per fundraiser or donate button, until $2 million in matching funds run out.

To spur this conversation, CMN Hospitals’ community of supporters, including corporate partners and celebrities, will be sharing videos and photos that speak to #gooddaybadday. Posts will be directed to cmnhospitals.org/gooddaybadday, where there will be more details and the option to donate. Also, on Giving Tuesday, CMN Hospitals will host a Facebook Live + Donate that provides a glimpse into a children’s hospital, speaking to the authenticity encouraged on that day, while highlighting how donations are used.

One video story features a UC Davis Children’s Hospital NICU family who relies on webcam technology — funded through donations — to view their newborn when they need to travel home to Lake Tahoe. Another feature a charitable dog therapy program at Cook Children’s in Fort Worth, Texas. A third highlights the printing of 3D hearts at Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital in Spokane, Washington — supported by donations.
