What is a matching gift?

A matching gift is when a person donates to a nonprofit organization and their employer donates an equal or greater amount to the same nonprofit.

A matching gift can be a great way to double or even sometimes triple your initial donation. 100% of your donation—and your employer’s match—will go directly to your local children’s hospital affiliated with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, supporting the hospital’s greatest needs in your community.

How much of my matched gift is tax-deductible?

Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals is a registered 501(C)(3). Your personal contribution is tax-deductible to the full extent provided by law. Your employer may also be able to deduct their portion of the matched gift.

What is the Tax ID or EIN for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals?

Our federal tax identification number is 87-0387205.

What if I can’t find my employer in the matching gifts search bar?

CMN Hospitals partners with Double the Donation to streamline the matching gift process. If you can’t find your employer in the list, there is a good chance it isn’t in their database.

Please reach out directly to your HR Department and encourage your employer to match gifts to CMN Hospitals. If your company would like to include CMN Hospitals as a beneficiary for employee giving efforts, please email us at support@cmnhospitals.org.

What if my employer requires paper form submissions?

Easy! You can email your completed form to matchinggifts@cmnhospitals.org.

What is the deadline for having a recent gift matched?

Matching gift guidelines are unique to each company. Deadlines for submitting a matching gift claim can vary from 30 days to more than one year from the gift date. You can search the name of your employer in our Matching Gifts Search Bar to view specific guidelines they’ve set.

What happens if a donation match is not approved?

If a company doesn’t approve a matching gift, they will contact both the employee (you) and CMN Hospitals with the reason why the match was rejected. Most often, a donation match is rejected because the donation amount falls outside of the matching gift program guidelines they’ve set.

How long does it take to process the matching donation?

This varies depending on the length of time it takes for your employer to process a donation match. Once received, our Donation Processing team will process the match and send you a confirmation message via email within two to four weeks. You can always ask your employer how often they process their employee matching gifts!

I’m retired. Will my former employer match my donations?

They might! Many companies extend their matching gifts program to their retirees. You can search the name of your employer in our Matching Gifts Search Bar to view specific guidelines they’ve set.

Can my spouse’s gift to CMN Hospitals be matched by my employer?

They might! Many companies extend their matching gifts program to their employee’s spouses. You can search the name of your employer in our Matching Gifts Search Bar to view specific guidelines they’ve set.
