Mental Health Awareness Month | Kevin Irias
For Mental Health Awareness Month, we are featuring the stories of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals employees. Meet Kevin Irias, DevOps and Quality Assurance.
I have felt what it must feel like falling into a bottomless pit, and trying my best to get up to the surface. I must admit that feeling weak is not a pleasant experience, but for sure it can help us grow. Sometimes we need to be more comprehensive with our weak self, understanding that those flaws make us human, and with patience and perseverance we can start making baby steps towards growth.
Mental health even in those modern times may feel a bit like a taboo and even as a luxury as it can be a bit pricey, and I want to express to anyone that may be feeling hopeless that it is okay not to feel okay, it’s fine to feel weak, powerless sometimes, it’s always a good moment to start taking those baby steps and trying to get to know us and love ourselves more and more, this has been really important personally in my own process dealing with both anxiety and panic attacks.
Sometimes we need to reach the bottom of the ocean to start ascending slowly but with patience and having the confidence that we are growing and forging a better path for us. And even if we feel like we may fall down again, we can have more confidence in reaching out for help and accepting that sometimes we may need help from others and that we may still have to continue growing.
