Students at Iowa State University Double Down on Helping Kids

Students at Iowa State University support Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in two ways: through their Dance Marathon and Extra Life programs. The effort began with Dance Marathon. Event planners saw an opportunity to gain the attention of a bigger demographic at their school. “Gamers at ISU (and I imagine everywhere else) have big, big hearts, so we found a way to get them involved and engaged into our cause,” says Romina Rivadeneira, Media Relations Director of ISU Dance Marathon 2016. Romina started live-streaming on YouTube for Extra Life two years ago.

This year, students were encouraged to participate from a central spot on campus as well as other locations; whatever was most comfortable for them. Gaming clubs got in on the fun by hosting tournaments while several fraternities came together for gameplay.

Supporting Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in multiple ways is just one of many innovative methods students have found to come together for a good cause.
