One child from each state and Washington, D.C.—who have overcome medical afflictions of every kind—will have their names included on the paint scheme for the Stanley Ford. In addition, four former and current patients from Children’s Hospital & Research Center Oakland will serve as Ambrose’s honorary pit crew during the race.
Ambrose’s honorary pit crew is part of the “Racing for a Miracle” program created by Stanley, the Ace Hardware Foundation and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals®. “Racing for a Miracle” is a multi-dimensional campaign benefiting the charity, which raises funds for 170 children’s hospitals such as Children’s Hospital & Research Center Oakland. Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals treat approximately 17 million children each year.
“Racing for a Miracle” is giving Ambrose and the No. 9 Stanley team a million more reasons to win the June 26 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event. Primary sponsor Stanley will make a $1 million donation to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals if Ambrose wins the 224-mile race.
In addition, fans are encouraged to donate $5 by texting ACE to 90999 to support the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital in their community.
Ace Hardware has been a corporate partner of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals since 1991 and has raised more than $46 million over the past 20 years. These much needed funds given to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals are used to support research and training, purchase equipment, and pay for uncompensated care.
