Northwest Golf Classic Raises over $1.4 million!

Portland, OR — The annual Northwest Golf Classic (previously Dave and Dan Golf Classic) hosted by First Tech FCU was hosted on Sunday and Monday, July 8-9, right outside Portland, Oregon. This event regularly brings hundreds of participants across the United States with representatives from many credit unions, vendors, hospitals, and more. This year, the First Tech team established a challenging $1.3m goal to raise for local children’s hospitals in the Northwest United States. They blew this goal out of the water, raising an astonishing $1,428,886!

Fundraising for this event is done in a variety of ways, including: pie-in-the-face events with First Tech CEO Greg Mitchell, sponsorships, raffles, an inspiring ‘paddle raise’ to close the event, plus much more. This event benefits the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, through the Credit Union for Kids (CU4kids) program. CMN Hospitals raises funds for 170 children’s hospitals, and this particular event raised funds for 6 of these hospitals:

  • Seattle Children’s Hospital
  • Doernbecher Children’s Hospital
  • PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital – Riverbend
  • UC Davis Children’s Hospital
  • UCSF Benoiff Children’s Hospital – Oakland
  • Children’s Hospital Colorado

The event was kicked off with a celebration dinner at the beautiful vineyard in Stoller Family Estate. Many celebrity guests and key individuals that made this event a success dined together in commemoration, with Dave Wilcox and Dan Fouts (pictured below) emceeing.

The golf outing on Monday was hosted at the highly-respected Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club. Teams of four played scramble style. Throughout the 18 holes, challenges were set up for golfers to win, including: longest drive, most accurate drive, and hole-in-one. The day was ended with a story that pulled at the heartstrings from a mother whose child was treated at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital and a renowned doctor at Doernbecher.

Huge shoutout to some of the sponsors that made this event happen: PSCU, CO-OP Financial Services, Mastercard, Fiserv, CU Direct, Crowe, CUNA Mutual Group, and The Standard.
