It’s a joyful sound in the hospital when the end-of-chemotherapy bell is rung, followed by cheers. For Jordan, a patient at Kapiolani Medical Center for Women & Children, it was an even more special occasion as members of her favorite band, Nick Carter and Brian Littrell of the Backstreet Boys, stopped by to celebrate the end of her two-year battle with cancer.

During her many treatments, Jordan always asked to play Backstreet Boys music and considers herself a superfan. Nick and Brian were inspired by her story and provided Jordan and her family tickets to their concert.

Nick and Brian also spent time doing personal meet-and-greets with pediatric patients and performed a few songs.

They also dropped by Brain Station, an educational program at the hospital, and visited patients doing schoolwork – a special genetic DNA lesson in honor of the group’s DNA World Tour.

“Everybody deserves to hope in something, to believe in something,” said Brian. “We hear a lot of times that Backstreet Boys music has been the soundtrack to so many people’s lives. For us to be here physically is a testament to what we do. We’re able to give back and lift some spirits. It’s why we do it – it blesses us more than it does anybody else.”
