UNI DM Enters Pledge to Fund Pediatric Epilepsy Department

This year, the University of Northern Iowa Dance Marathon (UNI DM) has entered a pledge to help fund the Pediatric Epilepsy Department at The University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital.

The dollars raised will help fund critical research, new staff, equipment that can be used in multiple departments of the hospital, and care for pediatric epilepsy patients across the state of Iowa and beyond. Epilepsy, which is defined as having more than one seizure, occurs in about 1% of the population. This means that 3,500 kids in the state of Iowa that suffer from epilepsy, and most of them receive treatment at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital.

In addition to the incredible opportunity to fund the Pediatric Epilepsy Department, a generous donor has agreed to match every dollar raised by UNI Dance Marathon. This means that at the end of the evening, when their final tote board goes up, the amount raised will be matched and the impact on the hospital, doubled!
