A growing partnership with Phoenix Children’s Hospital: Employees raise nearly $19,000 in 2017
Direct Energy is a proud partner of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, donating funds and volunteer time to children’s hospitals across the United States and Canada. In 2016, Direct Energy’s Phoenix Contact Center donated $20,000 to Phoenix Children’s Hospital, part of the Children’s Miracle Network.
In 2017, Direct Energy strengthened its relationship with Phoenix Children’s Hospital with financial donations and volunteer support. Early in the year employees assembled 200 activity bags for the hospital. Direct Energy donated to Phoenix Children’s Hospital’s radio fundraiser and six Direct Energy employees volunteered to make calls to raise money for the event. A bilingual employee volunteered for the hospital’s Telemundo telethon. Direct Energy was also a sponsor of the Phoenix Children’s Hospital 5K and had a walking team of 10.
A successful fundraising campaign from 2016 was duplicated in 2017 in which Direct Energy donated $1 for every Direct Energy Protection Plan (DEPP) sold in September and October. Thanks to the efforts of Phoenix Contact Center agents, $8,031 was raised for Phoenix Children’s Hospital from DEPP sales. Employees also raised funds by dining at local restaurants where a portion of sales was donated to Phoenix Children’s Hospital.
In October, the Phoenix Contact Center was one of several Direct Energy locations in North America to participate in the annual DE in Motion Challenge that focuses on employee wellness while fundraising for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Because Phoenix won the challenge, Direct Energy donated $4,666 to Phoenix Children’s Hospital. The Phoenix Contact Center also supported Phoenix Children’s Hospital’s Ignite Hope holiday candlelight walk fundraiser. In total nearly $19,000 was donated to Phoenix Children’s Hospital in 2017.
“Supporting Phoenix Children’s Hospital is very rewarding because it impacts children locally and around the world,” said Tim Araiza, a sales supervisor at Direct Energy’s Phoenix Contact Center and leader of DE Roots, which plans local community involvement and employee engagement activities. “There are many ways for our employees to get involved and I look forward to building our relationship with Phoenix Children’s Hospital for years to come.”
