RUNNING 4 MIRACLES-LITTLE ROCK

On March 5, I will run the Little Rock Marathon in honor of 4-year-old Jacob, who was born prematurely with less than a 5% chance of survival.  Right after Jacob was born, he was diagnosed with end-stage kidney disease and chronic lung disease, both caused by a rare condition called prune belly syndrome—three very big burdens for such a tiny baby.  Jacob was immediately flown to Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock where he was admitted into the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).  For the next five months, Jacob fought for his life every day through a long list of additional diagnoses and complications.  

All of the surgeries, dialysis treatments, injections, blood work and therapies Jacob had endured since birth had one goal-to keep him alive long enough to receive the gift of a new life through kidney donation.  In March 2021, his mom, Holly, became a living donor for her little boy.  Today, 4-year-old Jacob is healthy and thriving! As a family, we have dedicated our fundraising efforts to pay it forward for the support we received from the Children’s Miracle Network when our son Brooks, who is now 17 years old, healthy, and thriving, was born at 25 weeks, weighing just 1 lb 6 oz.  He spent four months in the NICU at the Penn State Health Children’s Hospital.  He represents why we believe miracles do happen.  Please click HERE to see photos of Brooks.
