Spotlight on Mediathons

Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals® partners with over 350 radio and television stations across the U.S. and Canada to produce Mediathon events. These multi-hour events are broadcast live, typically from the local CMN Hospital and feature how donations are crucial to aid patient care and services for local children.

Leveraging the immense reach of radio, our Radiothon partners are stronger than ever as an integral part of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals fundraising efforts. As station hosts do what they do best – engage listeners with compelling patient interviews and signature storytelling montages – Radiothon raises more than $50 million annually.

In 2007, the Radiothon program expanded to incorporate events in all Spanish language formats – regional Mexican, Spanish Pop, Tropical, Oldies and Tejano.  These 38 events cover 105 markets and encompass 96% of the Hispanic population of 56.6 million in the United States. Over $45 million has been raised since 2007 from Spanish language Radiothons.

From our first Telethon in 1983, raising nearly $4.8 million for 22 children’s hospitals to today, Telethons have been a pivotal event for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. As a key fundraiser in markets across the U.S. and Canada, Telethon continues to extend the reach of Mediathons through visual storytelling on the importance of local CMN Hospitals.
