Actor Adam Devine keeps his philanthropic streak alive at MUSC Children’s Hospital

Adam DeVine knows firsthand what it’s like to be a patient in a children’s hospital. After more than 25 surgeries and two years of treatment from being hit by a cement truck at the age of 11, Adam now personally visits kids all over North America being treated at children’s hospitals.

The Pitch Perfect and Isn’t It Romantic star visited his home hospital – Children’s Hospital & Medical Center – a few months ago while filming a Netflix comedy special, and this week he visited MUSC Children’s Hospital while he is in Charleston filming a new HBO series, The Righteous Gemstones.

Adam spent time playing games with patients, told jokes, and shared advice on how to handle bullying.

For patients who couldn’t leave their rooms, Adam went to them, or sent videos and notes home with their parents. The kids were laughing, smiling, and in awe of meeting “Flash” from The Lego Batman Movie.

“To see these young faces battle with sickness and still be able to smile and laugh was inspiring.” – Adam DeVine

The kids presented Adam with a hand-painted thank-you card for taking the time to visit them and told him to come back anytime he was in town. Adam brings hope and laughter to the patients and families every time he visits one of the 170 Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals across North America.

As many of y’all know I spent a lot of time in a children’s hospital as kid. (I get it! I bring it up a lot!) Regular hospitals are the WORST when you are a child, it’s scary and confusing. Children’s hospitals make it easy to be sick or injured and still be a kid. I was able to spend some time with the kids at the Children’s hospital of Charleston yesterday! To see these young faces battle with sickness and still be able to smile and laugh was inspiring. Children Hospitals are non profit and rely on donations. Donate to your local children’s hospital so they can have the best care and the sweetest gaming system, and nerf balls. That way they can hopefully get better and forget their problems if only for a moment! @musckids @cmnhospitals
