RUNNING 4 MIRACLES-RHODE ISLAND

Celebrating Preemie Twins Nate and Sean's Resilient Survival

On October 8, I will run the Newport, Rhoad Island Marathon to honor Nate (1 lb 7 oz) and Sean (1 lb 9 oz), who was born prematurely at 23 weeks and 4 days, which is classified as "extremely" preterm.   Babies born at 23 weeks have a 50% survival rate.  The twin warriors battled for their lives in the NICU for 150 days each having surgeries before their discharge. Mom cannot praise enough the superior medical care received from the NICU team at Hasbro Children’s Hospital, "making the most stressful time of our lives happy."  "The nurses at the hospital took care of the twins as if they were their own. Even sometimes taking extra shifts to be with them longer on the more challenging days."

Rhoad Island is Leg #6 of the Conway Family's Miracle Mission of running 50 marathons honoring 50 preemies in 50 states.  Here are our previous efforts.

Leg #5-Louisville, KY-The Baker Four (Luke, Eloise, Ruby, and Annie)-$4,756

Leg #4-Little Rock, AR-Jacob-$2,545

Leg #3-Indianapolis, IN-Carlie-$670

Leg #2-Dayton, OH-Mason-$1,575

Leg #1-Pittsburgh, PA-Hunter-$2,758

As a family, we have dedicated our fundraising efforts to pay it forward for the support from the Children’s Miracle Network when our son Brooks, who is now 18 years old, healthy, and thriving, was born at 25 weeks, weighing just 1 lb 6 oz.  He spent four months in the Penn State Health Children’s Hospital NICU.  He represents why we believe miracles do happen.  Please click HERE to see photos of Brooks.
