IHOP Pancakes Change Kids’ Health September 13-October 31

IHOP joined forces with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals to find this year’s Kid Chef. They invited kids, ages 6-16, from children’s hospitals across the U.S. and Canada to participate. Not only were these kids sharing their culinary creativity, but also their support of their children’s hospitals.

Who is this year’s Kid Chef?

After reviewing a number of incredible candidates, IHOP is thrilled to announce Rayaan as this year’s Kid Chef.

Rayaan was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disorder where he was in a coma, needed life support and had to relearn everyday tasks. Thanks to his children’s hospital, and the unexpected tool of soft, fluffy, syrup-filled pancakes, Rayaan was able to relearn how to chew, eat and swallow. Pancakes were an impactful aid for Rayaan’s recovery, which is why he wanted to share his favorite pancake stack with everyone.

What is this pancake creation?

Kid Chef Rayaan created the Caramel Apple a la Mode pancake stack. This includes two fluffy buttermilk pancakes topped with warm, cinnamon-spiced apples, drizzled with caramel sauce and crowned with one scoop of premium vanilla ice cream. Everyone is talking about these pancakes! This delicious treat will also help children’s hospitals foster the scientists, inventors, artists and chefs, like Rayaan, of tomorrow.

What was the inspiration?

“My mom makes the best apple pie ever!” Rayaan exclaimed, “so this is a pancake made from my mom and it comes with apples, cinnamon and ice cream!”

We couldn’t agree more! Mom’s apple pie and a pancake stack are a delicious combination, especially with the ice cream on top.
