Tackling a Global Issue

Let’s be blunt. Children’s health is an urgent local and global issue impacting the future of our communities and society at large.

The reality is that more sick kids need the custom care that children’s hospitals provide than can afford it. In fact, there is a substantial gap between healthcare funding and the needs of children’s hospitals in the U.S. and Canada. That’s why these hospitals rely on donations and community support.

  • With 62 children entering a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital every minute and 10 million annually, the need for adequate healthcare is imperative.
  • According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 4.3 million children under the age of 19 did not have health insurance coverage in 2018, and another 37 million rely on Medicaid, which contributes to a large chunk of uncompensated care.
  • About 1 in 20 hospitals is a children’s hospital. As such, children’s hospitals serve larger geographies than adult hospitals and are faced with increased burden.

Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals exists to close the funding gap by raising awareness and raising millions of dollars for 170 member hospitals in the U.S. and Canada. By doing so, we help hospitals save children’s lives and unleash their potential.
