Walmart & Sam’s Club Associates Rally to Change Kids’ Health June 12 – July 14

Walmart and Sam’s Club associates are sparking good at local children’s hospitals through Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMN Hospitals) June 12 – July 14. Associates at locations across the U.S. and Canada are once again positively impacting kids’ health in our community by coming together to support this year’s campaign enthusiastically. You can donate in-store at Walmart and Sam’s Club, on Walmart.com, and in the Walmart app. Each dollar raised locally can provide treatments and support patients desperately need today so that they can fulfill their potential for tomorrow.

Each year we hear from associates who their local children’s hospital has personally impacted and now pay it forward to help others in their community.

This is true for Nathan, a store manager in Sturtevant, WI, and Carey, a store manager in Waukesha, who would look forward to the CMN Hospitals campaign every year at their Walmart—asking customers to donate, putting pies into managers’ faces, and even playing softball games against other stores.

It grew to have a new meaning when Nathan and Carey discovered their son, soon to be third child, had cysts on his neck during a late ultrasound. It was the start of their personal Children’s Wisconsin experience with biweekly ultrasounds and appointments. After a long day at work preparing to open a new store location, Carey went into labor a week earlier than her planned c-section. Not knowing exactly how the cysts would affect Jaxson’s eating, breathing, and delivery, a team of 28 Doctors was involved in his successful delivery.

Although the cysts seemed mostly superficial, they led to several surgeries within his first year and beyond. Overnight hospital stays, dealing with infections, sitting in waiting rooms, driving to Children’s Wisconsin, and bi-weekly physical therapy appointments became a norm for Nathan and Carey during Jaxson’s first few years.

Because of this, when Nathan and Carey look at their son, Jaxson, and are thankful to the associates who participate and encourage donations for CMN Hospitals every year. They develop new and fun ways to raise funds and engage their associates in the cause that hits home. Each donation has made and continues to make a difference not only in Jaxson’s life and future but for many other kids.
