RUNNING 4 MIRACLES-BATON ROUGE

Celebrating MJ's Resilient Survival

Michael “M.J” Greene was born 13 weeks early at 27 weeks weighing just 2 pounds 5 ounces. It was discovered after 2 days of his life that he had a small brain bleed and that they would continue to monitor. He was sent to a hospital in North Louisiana, where he stayed for two weeks before his brain bleed got worse. He was then transferred to Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital in Baton Rouge for extended care. Being 4 hours away from home, his family praises the medical team in Baton Rouge for their level of care, communication, and overall comfort for their family.

After 5 surgeries and over 4 months in the NICU, MJ was sent home on oxygen and with a G-tube. As of today, MJ is officially fully off oxygen and doing various therapies. Though he may not be doing all the “typical” things a 1-year-old would normally be doing, M.J. shows his strength daily.

On January 19, I am running the Louisana Marathon in Baton Rouge to honor MJ's resilience and support other premature babies born at Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital.  It is Leg #9 of the Conway Family's Miracle Mission of running 50 marathons honoring 50 preemies in 50 states.

Leg #8-Oklahoma City, OK-Veronica and Vivianne-$925
Leg #7-Virginia Beach, VA-Ruby-$2,502
Leg #6-Newport, RI-Sean and Nate-$507
Leg #4-Little Rock, AR-Jacob-$2,545
Leg #3-Indianapolis, IN-Carlie-$670
Leg #2-Dayton, OH-Mason-$1,575
Leg #1-Pittsburgh, PA-Hunter-$2,758

As a family, we have dedicated our fundraising efforts to pay it forward for the support from the Children’s Miracle Network when our son Brooks, who is now 19 years old, healthy, and thriving at the University of Nebraska, was born at 25 weeks, weighing just 1 lb 6 oz.  He spent four months in the Penn State Health Children’s Hospital NICU.  He represents why we believe Miracles do happen.  Please click HERE to see photos of Brooks.
