RE/MAX #MonthofMiracles: Trudy Wilson

Throughout August, we're celebrating RE/MAX Miracle Agents across North America who do year-round fundraising for local CMN Hospitals during the 5th annual Month of Miracles. Visit remax.com to find a Miracle Home or Miracle Agent in your community.

RE/MAX agent Trudy Wilson is swimming the Trent-Severn Waterway in Peterborough this summer in honour of her daughter, Taylor, who died from severe birth injuries 18 years ago at Sick Kids in Toronto, and to raise funds for the children’s hospital that means so much to her.

“It was such a storm in our lives,” said Wilson. “I knew that she had her best chances at Sick Kids hospital, and so that’s why I want to help them to continue to do what they do best.”

The Bridgenorth resident pledged in 2015 to raise $25,000 for Sick Kids over five years and is already a quarter of the way there with last year’s 386-kilometre trek. Though she’s never undertaken anything of this magnitude, Wilson said it’s others’ confidence in her that’s given her that push. This year, Wilson, 46, planned to swim five hours and 10 kilometres each day, making for a 40-day trip with rest days.

With special permission from Parks Canada to swim in the channels (except Lift Lock), she will be accompanied by a boat at all times. Wilson’s actions show her gratitude for the tremendous support and work of the staff at Sick Kids. The funds she continues to raise are sure to make a difference in the lives of families like hers.
